Vaping Risks – What Vaping Can Do to Your Mouth

For those of you who don’t know IQOS is the newest device for smoking cessation. It has been cleared by the FDA for sale in the United States for summer of 2019.

#IQOS uses heetsticks to heat tobacco to 350°C, without combustion or smoke. Because the tobacco is not burned, the amount of harmful chemicals are significantly reduced compared to traditional cigarettes.

FDA
The aerosol produced by the IQOS Tobacco Heating System contains fewer toxic chemicals than cigarette smoke, and many of the toxins identified are present at lower levels than in #cigarette smoke. For example, the carbon monoxide exposure from IQOS aerosol is comparable to environmental exposure, and levels of acrolein and formaldehyde are 89% to 95% and 66% to 91% lower than from combustible cigarettes, respectively.

As for vaping, studies conducted by the Royal College of Physicians that show that e-cigarettes available today are unlikely to exceed 5% of the harm from #smoking tobacco.

Also, there is a new study as of January 2019 conducted by the New England Journal of Medicine. The study shows that for people trying to quit tobacco, switching to e-cigarettes was nearly TWICE as effective as using other forms of Nicotine Replacement Therapy.

The rise of teens smoking e-cigarettes has been alarming, especially because many of these kids are not using their vapes to quit smoking tobacco, they are following a trend.

  1. I quit juuling about 5 months ago, now I feel the need to smoke an occasional cigarette. I’m not sure what’s better…. having a juul in your back pocket that you smoke constantly, or having a pack of cigarettes that lasts you over a month. Thoughts?

  2. Which option has no secondhand smoke? My mom smokes and she just recently used IQOS but I'm not too good about it because I have asthma and my chest hurts and I have difficulty breathing whenever she smokes or uses the IQOS. Does vape show any sign if secondhand smoke? My bf's cousins vape a lot and I have never experienced anything negative when they do.

  3. There is 5x more nicotine in a juul pod/ e-cig than your traditional cigarette. To clarify. 1 pod is about 200 puffs= 20 cigarettes 🚬

  4. Real question, I don't smoke a lot, something like 1 cigarette every 1 or 2 days, but I like it, I'm not addicted, I've had months pass by without a smoke, so, do you recommend the Iqos, I found about them by my boss, saw him with that done time ago, just asked about it, sorry if my English is bad.

  5. I purchased an IQOS and the Heets last fall. It HAS helped with cutting strongly "back" on smoking cigars (down from 10 to 2 a day), however the three "flavours" available in my area are really not pleasant and I find the Heet vapour burns my mouth after time. So now I'll try vaping and see if that will help get me off smoking cigars and Heets ;). There is one additional benefit of vaping over IQOS that I can see, and that's the ability to choose the nicotine level in the vape juice. My intention is to reduce that level of nicotine over time, then do the push to stop the "habit". Wish me luck folks! 🙂 PS: SInce Heets don't "burn off" like cigarettes, you may actually get more nicotine out of one Heet as compared to one cigarette, and I found I smoke a Heet much faster since it's only a short burn time (about 3 min) compared to a cigarette/cigar which may sit in my ashtray as I do other things. Might be why my mouth feels burned as well.

  6. Been smoking for more than 2 decades now and I've always wanted to quit. I tried vaping, kept me from smoking for a month, had a one-time cigarette puff, then I'm back to smoking and dumped the vape again. My wife bought me IQOS a week ago and I never had that same urge for cigarettes anymore as compared to when I was vaping. I'm planning to stick with IQOS from here on, until eventually, hopefully, completely quit smoking. wish me luck. P.S. Excellent, simple, yet very informative Video!

  7. I’m 16 and I vape a lot I don’t really wanam quit but Ik it’s bad for me I had a few juul s and I stick to box mods with. 50 salt nic I get my older friends to buy me stuff and if there’s any parents seeing this dont get that. Mad at us it sucks and let us do it for a while but just don’t cut it off it makes us mad and fell bad for a while I’ve been caught a lot but I’m not gona stop and I think more trends should vape like it’s great but it costs a lot I have a pen and it’s equal to about 4 juul pods per pod for it and I go through a pod a day I do vape hard and I have asthma I can’t run a lot so thought my lungs hurting and i have covid I really do think I’m not gona make it and I’ve seen 10000 comments about this but it sucks man I’m scare to tell my mom why my lungs are so bad and well vaping hurts your lungs and is not worth it but you know it’s whatever I vape I smoke bud I drink and you know it’s chill but if I could I would not have started smokein or vaping I’m really high while writing Thos so sorry for mis spellings but yeah stop vaping so much just cut down
